An Invitation to 40 Days of Prayer: A Lenten Practice
“Prayer: Forty Days of Practice invites you to pray in more authentic and untethered ways. These prayers and images, along with contemplative reflections and suggested practices, are designed to stir and clarify what God is doing in you, which is the heart of prayer.”
Here is link if you would like to hear from the authors or have a look at the format of the book itself.
Irene Fennema is is a spiritual director, pastoral care elder, life partner to Norm, and mom to grown children, Kara and Cam. She also works in the field of development as fundraising support. For Irene most days include a long walk in the woods, along a creek, or on the beach. Aided by the camera lens she wonders at the beauty of the world. She has been a SoulStream partner since 2018 and lives in Victoria, BC.
Sue McKerracher is a spiritual director and high school counsellor in beautiful Victoria, BC. When Sue is not working, she loves to join her friends on motorcycling adventures, cycling trips, and wilderness backpacking excursions. Sue is a recent ASD grad, and she has been a SoulStream partner since the Spring of 2020.
Join Irene and Sue as they accept this invitation to intimacy with God. We will be using this book on prayer “to stop, listen, see, recognize, and contemplate your life, the lives of those you love and the presence of God in, through, and around all of it.”
How we will enter our Lenten practice of forty days of prayer
Throughout the week you as an individual are invited to engage with the guided prayers, contemplative imagery, weekly meditation, or prayer practices offered in the book. Then each Tuesday evening we will gather as a group. We will say hello, do a short mindfulness practice together and then spend forty minutes in break-out groups to share what spoke to us in the material of the previous week. We will regather and end our time with a blessing or other offering.
