Beginning Friday, October 2, 2020, SoulStream is offering for the first time an online Living from the Heart course. COVID-19 restrictions became the catalyst for us to consider offering an online LFTH course but we soon realized this is a great opportunity to include some participants who may never be able to attend in person. Participants are from Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC, with one tuning in from Guatemala. And 4 facilitators (Deb Arndt, Maureen Miller, Jeff Imbach, and I) represent three Canadian provinces as well. 21 participants will be joining us this evening as our opening weekend begins on Zoom. We will then reconnect once a month for 6 months and conclude in spring 2021 for a final weekend. We are excited about the gifts this online year will bring.
October 16-18 is the opening weekend for an in-person Living from the Heart experience for 18 participants gathering at Bethlehem Retreat Centre in Nanaimo. Esther Hizsa, Audrey Hoehn and Brent Unrau will be inviting these 18 into the Way of the Heart this weekend and, as with the online course, will meet on 6 Saturdays through the year, closing with a weekend in spring.
The Art of Spiritual Direction begins a new cohort October 23-29 also meeting at Bethlehem Centre. This will be the first intensive of four, stretching over an 18-month period of intense study, collaborative learning, practical engagement and deepening self-awareness. We are welcoming 20 participants into the program, mostly all graduates from Living from the Heart in previous years. Pearl Nieuwenhuis, Karen Webber and I will facilitate during the intensives welcoming Tim Klauke as an intern. We also value the support of 9 supervisors who will meet with participants between intensives for on-going deepening of skills and self-awareness.
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement as we begin these programs this fall. I am grateful for your partnership in the good work of SoulStream.
And just to let you know what is ahead, beginning next Friday and throughout October and November, eight Partners will be offering reflections on the theme of thanksgiving and gratitude. Each week will be an opportunity to hear their stories and to get to know these Partners just a little better.
